What kind of music? 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Current ... or something else like opera, blue grass, Zydeco ... etc

I like blue grass and zydeco but don't find them on my radio too often. After that, I probably like 80's.

I don't like most rap although I do like Pitbull (I know, I know) and I don't like opera (at all), most country is great, I like rock, blues, some 40's, some 50's, some 60's, some 70's, zydeco is interesting. It's hard to choose.

Right now, I'm tired of Christmas music.           :(

    itsmee

I am ALWAYS tired of Christmas music except for the two songs I mentioned and the Halleluja part of the Halleluja Chorus.
    Pit Bull, huh?
    Ducky ... No 80's?
My grocery store doesn't play Christmas music. I thanked the manager just this evening!

Mannheim Steamroller has some outstanding Christmas music...totally different from "Here Comes 'Santy Claus'" (:D)
    itsmee

I'm heading for Mannheim Steamroller. Thanks. (maybe) : D
    Bob/PKB

Their "Carol of the Bells" will give you goosebumps. AWESOME
    itsmee

    HALLELUJA ~ Thanks, Phyllis.
Angel music ~ music from the spirit to the spirit ~ Something like that. Some of it made me cry. I'm going back now.
PS I hope some of our friends get a chance to listen to Mannheim Steamroller.

    itsmee, told ya!

70s music. The music reminds me of when I was growing up. I will always love it.

    itsmee

Music hath powers ... I love it. Turn on tunes and change a blue mood to a cheerful one. I'm gonna do it right now.

Python- - -John Denver, Karen and Richard Carpenter

Definately sixties, at least it gave a rest from the ballads

or slow music i had to listen to in the fifties.

I lived on the Pan Handle of Golden Gate Park ... right in the midst of all the action. I was not one of the actors but I tried for the long hair, beads, long skirts, sandals ...

Looking way back it seems like all was good "all was calm all was bright."
(I just said that cause I'm tapping away on Christmas Eve) : ) You know that, huh? There are always some dragons to slay. : )

@itsmee...Everyone raves about Phantom and also Les Miserables. Saw both and could have easily <yawn> fallen asleep at both! Not my thing at all...neither of them.
Saw John Fogerty (CCR) and could have listened to him "rock it" for another 2 hours!
    jhharlan

I LOVED Phantom but also enjoy Count Basey, Heart, Billy Joel, John cougar, John Prine, Moody Blues, Evita and will enjoy WICKED in Feb….

Ducky, CCR comes up high on my list. Love them.

I guess I'm a rock fan although there are certainly a lot of other musicians that I enjoy immensely. Would love, as I've mentioned before, to go to "Austin City Limits"! I know that I would enjoy that for sure.

I LIVE here and I’ve never gone to ACL………...

That's usually the way isn't it.

Is that far from "Nutbush City Limits"?

    christian and country....

I like all music to listen to, it depends on my mood what I choose at anytime. When I play the clarinet it's more often music written in the 30's or 40's . When I play the piano anything from classical to recent music, sometimes a couple who have been our friends for years comes round for an evening, and she is a really good singer, so I play the piano and she sings . I remember, that's how we used to spend Christmas when I was  kid, someone would play the piano and everyone would have a sing song. Lovely times.

I'm not sure I have 30's on my radio. I'll check it tomorrow.
    sunnyB

Yep 30's blues music, sounds good on the clarinet. Benny Goodman wrote and arranged and played some great music on the clarinet.

itsmee - I am totally eclectic - although not keen on the RAP stuff - just don't get it probably too modern for me but just do not like the sound otherwise absolutely everything - blues, country, classical, opera, musicals, jazz etc. Born in 1940 well what more can I say? Have a huge music collection to include vinyl. Yes I know may sound sad to some of you guys. I need without question need music in my life - so much part of my past and what was then becomes now for me in relation to music.

I'm open to all types of music, except jazz and rap...I'll "use" rap and some classical to do a sound check on my system...I find that even some alternative is tolerable.

My psychology teacher was a Jazz musician in San Francisco. Our class got in for free and I smiled a lot. I don't know what to do with Jazz in my head.

Glad to have your answer and good to see you around. Don't be a stranger. : )

We played music from the 40's at my mom's memorial luncheon and it was great.  IN THE MOOD, STRING OF PEARLS!!!  The BEST!
Opera is NOT something I'd choose to listen to, and a lot of rap offends me (although there is some I really enjoy).                                                                                                  I suppose picking an absolute favorite isn't possible; there's so much great music, from the earliest classical music to "just released" and everything in between!

I like all but-- polkas, polkas make me cringe. I might add any hip-hop or gangsta rap, I would include that in my first mention  but I don't consider this as music in the first place. Especially death rap.

    itsmee

Death rap?! Certainly NOT a good sound but I've never ever heard it. Sheesh. There's a lot of death stuff around for kids. My granddaughter who just turned 8 got a skull purse for her birthday. She loves that stuff. Oh why? Why!
I've had a lot of fun doin' the polka. LOL. Somehow I just can't see you on the floor skipping around.
    Vinny

And you won't ever see me 'skipping around the floor'. But I'm a good dancer

    Detest polka music. :(
    itsmee

Ducky, I wrote a note for you and Vinny and filed it under Poppy. Why?
    Vinny

What's it mean 'I wrote a note for you and vinny and filed it under poppy.' ??
    itsmee

Vinny, Roll your computer screen up until you come to the screen name "Poppy 3." There you will find a note regarding my polka experience.
Ok, I'll just tell you here and save you time of rolling your screen. I haven't done the Polka since 8th Grade PE. I'm not sure I would like it now. But ... I would be willing to try! : ))
    Bob/PKB

    Beer barrel polka?
    itsmee

    Roll out the barrel
    And we'll have a barrel of fun ... : D
    Bob/PKB

Roll out the barrel; We've got the blues on the run.
    LOVE THAT SONG!
    itsmee

me 2 now that u mention it.
    mycatsmom

Vinny, how bout a good Tarantella ?
    Vinny

Of course the tarentella!! That's a classic piece and dance! For us Italians anyway!
    mycatsmom

my late husb used to say I'm Italian by injection ;-)

Looking at my play list, I think I'm stuck in the 80's.

    itsmee

Oh meeeeee too! (kinda) I wondered what you would say, : )
    mycatsmom
