My dad was a newsman. We went up up up a tall mountain to interview the guy who was a forest fire spotter. We bounced along the rough road and when we got to the man's shack I was ready for lunch. I thought he'd have a balogna sandwich or something but no-- He had REAl fried chicken, mashed potatoes gravy, garden peas, garden squash, a small salad. Boysendberry pie for desert along with what I believe was goat milk. We sat at a table that over looked his area. Everything was so good. So beautiful. I'd never had a dinner like that before. I was 7 or 8 at the time and I think about that lunch quite often. Food is love. I'll never go there again. There was a fire but fortunately our cook escaped.

Lamb cooked in an open fire oven in Kafalonia Greece, I shall never forget it fantastic.

It probably had something to do with the location. It sounds good.

    WHAT?
    sunnyB

    I've corrected the spelling, Lamb.
    itsmee

I don't believe you misspelled lamb.
    sunnyB

I often wonder why the lamb is so tasty in Greece, because the sheep just amble around on the Rocky slopes, munching on lttle stumps of grass, but it is very delicious.

I don't know where you are but I have seen pictures of Greece. Could your happy memory have to do with "Location. Location. Location"
    sunnyB

Yes you are right itsmee, sunsets over a blue sea lapping against the sandy shore, Greek music playing, warmth, romance, and roast lamb. What could be better.

One of our members wants to go there. Listen up, sunnyB. : ) Your mean sounds so good. Wow!

I had a huge buffalo steak in Turkey a few years ago that is hard to beat (or repeat), it was really the best steak I have ever eaten.

There is actually a buffalo farm close to my town but it's specifically for mozzarella not meat, sad and true.

My mom made up meals but we ate them. She could cook one hell ova roast though, wish I could copy her…...

Stick it in the oven with a meat thermometer. Serve with Horseradish and sour cream. Couldn't be easier. I always look at them in the store. Too damn $$ for me. But yum.

My mom would pat vinegar on them to tenderize them and the smell was incredible……….

I had been working on a cattle station outside of Quilpie in Queenslands outback.Living virtually on lamb & baked beans for 6 weeks. On the drive home we stopped at the BP roadhouse at Aratula at the bottom of Cunningham's Gap.I had a roast beef & gravy sandwich.Either I was extremely hungry (Which I was) or it was the best darn roast beef I have ever tasted & the best darn sandwich ever.

I miss lamb. It's expensive in the U.S. now. You can buy a chop with about a forkful of meat for $5.00. Living on lamb sounds yum but too much is too much.
    You really needed a change?

My longtime boyfriend and I lived in Humboldt County and would go to Eureka's Red Lion Motor Inn for dinner occasionally.  I remember that I always enjoyed getting dressed up (it was the fancy place in town) and sharing a bottle of wine.  I would have cesar salad, steak Diane, potato and vegetables, and something wonderfully decadant for dessert.
I'm sure I've had tastier, better prepared meals, but the atmosphere and company at those intimate dinners stand out in my memory.

It's nice memories that keep us going Bob.

Before I take a Xanax and go to bed I decide what to think (dream) about. We've lived in many houses and I ask my man what house should I think about. He'll say something like "The place in Pacific Grove." Whoops. I got off food there. And on I dream ...
sunnyB said it so good "It's nice memories that keep us going."

They surely do; and it's good internet friends who spark them for us with questions like this and remind us to be thankful for them! :D

You made me happy with what you said!
