tommyh: I want to give my son and daughter-in-law a dinner out for Christmas. They live near Gladstone. Do you know of one? We would like to spend $60-$70?

I don't remember where you live

Tommy lives in Australia. Are you taking them to Australia for dinner?

I've already paid for the plane. NOT They do live in Australia : ) Restaurants are very different there or so our son says. It's difficult to find one that's ok. $70.00 probably won't do the job. It's hard to find a good one here for that amount if you add drinks, coffee, and desert.

Tried to put this in the blue ...didn't work. : (

OK, I didn't know they lived in Australia. I thought you might have been confusing Tommy for another member who lives here in the states. Please do not tell me there's an issue with the blue box now.

Colleen.. Itsmee's son & daughter in law have been living in Gladstone for most of the past year.Gladstone is some 300 miles North of me unfortunately.I have been there many times but I am not all that familiar with the places to dine out.

Itsmee,Try the sports clubs.Yaralla sports club is one of them. You can google it.They are pretty expensive but usually the food is outstanding & at least you don't have to tip in this country.I would send you some links but my computer is unreliable. So google 'Rugby league clubs,Gladtone Qld "& you should get some results.Hope this helps & Merry Xmas Itsmee.

No tipping Down Under? What a bunch of cheapskates ;-)
Seriously, what's the average wage of a waiter/waitress?
    Tommyh

Way above what they are paid in the U.S.$25 P.H. & upwards.

I'll try it. I REALLY like the idea of no tipping. I know it will make dining out more expensive but it is just nice. Kind. Thanks Tommy I'll see if we can get some direction. I wonder what they get in the United States?

In case Tommyh cannot help you I have provided a link to all 49 restaurants in Gladstone. See what they have to offer, read reviews, compare prices etc. >>> http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurants-g255336-Gladstone_Queensland.html

Oh fun. I'll call my man over and I'll see what we can do. I just don't want to send a tee shirt. It won't be for Christmas because his wife is going to Florida to be with their daughter who just started college there. I feel bad for him. He'll be all alone. Maybe we'll have our Skype ready.

After all this whoop my man says ... "It's too iffy to do it that way" Many many thanks to you, Tommy, and, of course, Colleen.
Maybe we'll make a trip to Australia in half a year or so ... maybe. Then we can try it together.
