    Why all the materialism? Does money make the world go around?

    It seems that we are on a tenuous tightrope regarding stock markets, world markets, and when one country struggles, all of us struggle.  Corporations drive the stock market speculations!  It seems like here in the USA the stock market is the rich man's game of speculating that certain commodities will do well, others fail.  So, my question is: Does money make the world go around?  There is evidence seemingly to support this question/assertion.
