    Area of a circle:  A = PI X Radius squared
    A = PI (3.14) x (3.5)(3.5)   ( Radius is 1/2 diameter.  1/2 of 7 = 3.5)
    A = 3.14 x 12.25
    A = 38.465 square inches
    Remove a 3 inch square ( 3 x 3 = 9 square inches)
    38.465 - 9 = 29.465 remaining square inches
