Make sure the car is in park and can not roll forward in case park fails for some strange reason. Disconnect the battery. Jack the truck up if needed for clearance to get under it and put it on jack stands. Make it as safe as you can make it before you crawl under. Disconnect the gas fill pipe at the door. Disconnect the wires for the gas pump. Hopefully you can get to the connector before you have to drop the tank. Make sure the gas tank is as empty as you can get it. Remove the tank skid plate if it has one. Remove the supporting straps that hold the tank up. Carefully drop the tank. Enlist the help of a friend.
