Connect the drive you are formatting to your computer. Restart your computer if necessary and log in to your operating system.

Right-click on the drive in Windows Explorer and then click on the "Format" command in the pop-up menu.

Type in the name that you want to use for the drive.

Click on the "File system" drop-down and then click on "NTFS."

Click "Start" to format the drive.
