Download a good antivirus software with internet security and do a complete system scan. This should take care of the malware/spam which pops up. Also download cCleaner from https://www.download.com or https://www.piriform.com and clean your registry, clear your temp. files and also uninstall any unnecessary programs that you have installed on your computer (unnecessary implies any program that you do not recognize or one that your do not use at least once a month). This should take care of the issue, if not, my choice of repair is to back up all the data and format the system.
