    Not dancers thats get called cheerleaders and do pirouetts and turns but REAL cheerleaders.

      Each team has their own professional cheerleaders who cheer on the team and during breaks they may do some stunts to entertain the fans but since they are professionally paid and have to be insured, I do not think they are allowed to do many stunts like the college cheerleaders do. Outside of the Baltimore Ravens who had (I say had because I'm not sure if they still do) a co-ed cheerleading squad, the rest of NFL teams have only female cheerleaders. I believe this also would limit the types of stunts they could perform.

        I think they just wanted stacked, sexy girls so they can sell the sponsors' product.

          No point to that. The cheerleaders are very rarely shown unless a play sends a player out of bounds and headed in their direction.
