Do you have an antenna? You will need the converter box for TVs using an external antenna. Most all TV stations and YV sets use digital signals now which is why you need a converter box. It converts analog signals to digital signals. Depending on your TV, you would scan for air or antenna.
If you are using a Dish, then I believe that would DTV (dish TV). Your TV may have an option for that.
