I have a older model club car that runs slow up hills, what can I do to make it run better?

My golf cart is 15 years old, I changed the batteries 5 years ago and maintain it very well. While it runs good on flat ground it is only going up a hill thats the problem.

it's lacking power. So, it needs new batteries again.  Is it all battery powered, or gas powered ?

Leg powered ,with large holes through the floor boards,

is it belt driven or direct driven..i had a ride on mower that was belt driven...after a while the belts will stretch..some can be adjusted others replaced...however it does sound like it is in the transmisson area..all the best mate
