employ the services of a speech therapist or occupational therapist, use compics, body language gestures or signs, communication or task boards should run vertically, pictures of tasks or activities can be changed daily interaction is desirable and as each desired activity is achieved they should be removed to a "finished pocket at the bottom of the board, a reward is useful to use at the end i.e a piece of fruit, or a cuppa etc, the vertical design is especially helpful for people that fall within the autistic spectrum, but I find are easier to set up anyway.
