The head on the VCR needs to be cleaned. I'm not sure if you can buy the cleaner anymore. Try Walmart or Radio Shack.

Having cleaned vcr head,the tape was inserted and play pressed,played o/k,can be stopped,paused and restarted,when stopped and ejected leaves a loop of tape.?
Then it needs to be taken to a repair shop if you can find one to have the components adjusted.
