I know that you will think this is a silly suggestion, but have you tried spitting on it? I'm not kidding. A friend of mine puts a huge gob of saliva on the "sticking part" and says that it is the only way to get it to stick on the windshield. If you haven't yet, give it a try.

Get a new holder. One that sticks to the windshield rather than the dash.

Thank you, I tried the one that came with the unit on both the dash and windscreen, neither places stuck.
If you look around the accessories isle at a store that sells GPS's, you may find other holders that attach to other parts of the car. I do not know if there is a perfect solution.
