Plug your USB cable into the computer and charge/sync cradle, which comes with the iPhone.

Place the iPhone in the cradle. iTunes should start automatically and recognize your iPhone.

Click on the iPhone logo in the left navigation pane of iTunes. You’ll be taken to a screen that gives you an overview of your phone and has several tabs along the top of the window, among them, "Contacts."

Click on the "Contacts" tab and select which contacts you want synced with your iPhone. You'll need to choose which program you want your contacts synced from. Mac users will want to use "Address Book" or "Entourage." PC users should use "Microsoft Outlook" or "Outlook Express."

Click the "Sync" button at the bottom of the "Contacts" pane. Your sync status will be visible in the top middle of the window. Do not remove your iPhone from the cradle until the sync is complete.

Eject your iPhone by clicking on the "Eject" button next to your iPhone’s logo in the left margin.

Check your contacts on your iPhone. Your new downloaded contacts should be there.
