In the era of link rough-and-tumble G-Shocks and Garmins, can a simple, time-only mechanical watch really be the link best and most practical tool for the job? Does the addition or deletion of a date display improve or lessen a watch's "field" bona-fides? What about an external rotating bezel – is the link Benrus Type I a field watch, a dive watch, or both?
