    what makes dogs cough a lot?

    my dog has a coughing problem. its like something is always in his throat that he has to cough up. we've given him some cough medicine before, and it helped some, but it came back. what can we do to stop this, without having to take him to the vet?

      A coughing dog is something to pay attention to. A canine cough could be any number of things. Maybe he has a dry throat. He  may have a food allergy. If it keeps up, I would definitely take him to the vet.

        could have ingested something like a bone, stone, or stick and is trying to clear it.
