It's just plain impatience that causes it.It's like they haven't got 5 seconds to spare. One guy tail gated me for about 3 miles one morning, then overtook me & slammed on his brakes. We both stopped & he got out of his car to give me a mouthful,so I got out of my car.He got back in his car & drove away quickly. Not a word was exchanged.

Once I got a ticket for tailgating. I was in the "fast" lane and the car in front of me was going 5 miles UNDER the speed limit instead of 8-10 miles OVER the speed limit.
I don't tailgate anymore. When I am being tailgated, I tend to gradually slow down, or wag my index finger at the jackass behind me. I can only go as fast as the jackass in FRONT of me, after all!

wow, I reached my limit for TUs. IOU one will get back tomorrow...

Road rage? I don't know.  I've stabbed a few tires belonging to the bad person. That's rage, isn't it?

    No, that's payback. Probably well-deserved.
