    Blight diseases are caused by fungi and usually appear during periods of high humidity or rainfall. They are difficult to control, so a fungicidal spray should be applied at the first sign of infection, according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    Probably Phytophthera infestans the same disease which caused the potato famine Ireland in the 1840's.


    Spraying Bordeaux mixture may help but tomatoes raised in the open air are prone to this disease in certain weather conditions.
