        Possibly unwittingly changed to mute which I myself have done several times ......replacing speakers etc agh.....to discover my computer was muted....oh dear...!!

          check the audio settings, usually the settings tend to unset... or maybe the speaker plug in pin could be damaged due to bends and extreme twists
