What does a posted sign mean?

Why do property owners put up signs saying "posted'? What rights does it give the property owner?

Depends on what the posted sign says but posted signs tend to be "fair warning" signs such as a no trespassing/no hunting sign. The property owner has the law on their side and the posted warning is the same as them telling a person to stay off their property. This will also cover them if a person is trespassing and gets hurt on the property.

Great song but no, we can not shoot on sight, lol (well not if our life is not in jeopardy anyway)

Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Sounds like the USA today :(

Yep! There's a lot of signage competition out there.Australia is the same.

    I thought I saw a sign once.....but it was just a left-over hippie from the 60s looking like the second coming....bwah! ;D
Then I saw a guy carrying a "the end is near" sign and the guy behind him had a sign that said..."the end" (blink blink)

Well now we know how it ends....

    ...MEDIC!....( for the scriptwriter)! ;D

""It gives the property owner the right to shoot your butt (well, not really), have your car/pickup/van/motor home towed, tells you the stipulations upon which you may occupy the property, or advises you that you are NOT allowed upon the property.

And rules are strict for the signage to be "legal".  For No Trespass signs in our area, they must be posted on the entire perimeter of the property every 50 ft. at eye height (average).
