    A salesman at Goldman's Buick earns a base salary of $1800 a month plus a commission of 2.5 % on all sales.  If he sold cars totaling $178,740 during June, how much did he earn that month?

    Multiply his total sales for the month by 2.5%. When you have that answer, add 1800.00 to it.

    2.5% would be .025   178740 x .025

    Nothing is obvious to some people. (Hint: The buyer for my piano backed out. What should I do?)

    Uh huh... :)

    Here,

    Basic salary = $1800

    Commission = 2.5 % of total sales =  2 . 5% of $178,740 = $ 4468 . 50

    Total earning in the month of June = Basic Salary + Commission

                                                                             =$1800 + $ 4468.50

                                                                              = $ 6268 .50 which is the required answer.
