Traditional pop-ups can be stopped with your built in pop up blocker if your operating system is Microsoft. On your browser, Click Tools > Options > Content tab > check mark "Block pop up windows".
If the pop ups are caused by keywords in the text you will need to download a blocker for those. I do not know which one is a good one as I do not use any of the download blockers. You will have to check them out yourself > http://www.bing.com/search?setmkt=en-US&q=download+pop+up+blocker
