"The youngster had been sent to juvenile hall because both his parents and his teachers had found him to be incorrigible."

Incorrigible means recalcitrant or impervious to correction - someone with no respect for authority, who does not take directions or follow orders, or respond to discipline. A kid with a really bad attitude may be incorrigible -  talks back rudely to parents, teachers & authority figures, is chronically truant, sneaks out at night, or boldly just leaves & comes back only when he pleases, etc.

    Does that answer your question?

After they stole my car in the middle of the night and got arrested for using a paintball gun to shoot marbles at houses, I told the policeman who called me at 3:00 A.M. to put tmy hopelessly incorrigible sons in juvenile hall, where they resided for three weeks.  That was just the opening of the can of worms.  Fortunately, the can seems to be empty now.

"I'm going to send you to a school for incorrigable girls "  That's what my g.friend's mother kept telling her when we were in H.S.  My friend didn't really do anything bad. But her brother sure did.
