Charge the Kindle's battery by using the provided USB cable to plug the device into an electronic outlet.

Turn on the Kindle by sliding the power button on the top left-hand side. Press the "Home" button on the right-hand side of the device.

Register your Kindle with Amazon.com by pushing "Menu" on the device and then choosing settings and registration if you do not have an Amazon.com account. If you already have an Amazon.com account, that step is not necessary.

Push the "Menu" button on the device and navigate to "Shop in Kindle Store."

Choose the "Books" link at the top of the page to browse all ebook titles available, or enter the name of the specific book you're looking for and press "search."

Use the controller button to push "buy" to purchase and download the ebook. The book will be electronically delivered to your Kindle within 60 seconds.
