Unless the original owner of the dog can be found and they have the paperwork for the docking, you probably will never find out how it was done and by whom. What would you do if you were able to find out? Is there a problem with the dogs tail?

We like to go to fun dog shows and one of the shows will only let dogs with tails or legally docked tails enter. She doesn't have a problem with her tail but I wondered if there was a way of telling if her tail had been docked legally. Thank you for your reply.
If the dog is older, it would be really hard to tell. If it was an unprofessional job, then there may be scaring. Have her vet look at it. Maybe she can tell if it was done correctly and to the proper length. A professional would have cropped it to the perfect length.
