    how would you know when you have to replace a water pump on a well

    when the water comes out  of my sprinklers, it comes out  in great strength and then it looses its presure.

      Are they in-ground sprinklers? If so, the problem may lie in the sprinkler system and not your well pump.  If you have in ground sprinklers, check here > http://www.ehow.com/how_2314350_fix-low-water-pressure-sprinklers.html If you are not losing water pressure in your house, then the well pump is fine.
