Hopefully to worship God. Some people go to church b/c of the social activities, and to meet a nice group of friends. Some people go to chruch, b/c they feel guilty about something, or b/c their adult children are screwing up ......and so the parents go to try to pray them into heaven , or at least into changing their behavior.
