This makes no sense. USB is a port on your computer that you plug things into.

I plugged in my thumbdrive which i have used many times before without any problems but now, I cant open any files on it and it says on my laptop "there was a problem starting _WY.init.and it is not a valid Win32 application. What do i do?

Sounds like the Thumb drive is toasted, burnt out, dead. Sorry, if that's the case, there is nothing you can do. I do not know where you live but if you have a Best Buy near you, I would stop there and talk to the Geek Squad. They have their own section in the store.
