      Go to start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager > now check out to see if you sound card is listed there? If it is make sure it doesn't have a ! next to it or a ?. If so you have to right click on it or maybe do this anyway and update driver, make sure you are online when you do this. Also you could go to sound settings in control panel and check there to see if you have a sound card installed.
