You may have triggered the security when you were trying to remove the key. Do you have a remote to turn off the security system? Try wiggling your steering wheel when trying to turn the key to it's neutral position to remove it. Make sure your gear shift is all the way in park and you have your foot on the brake when attempting to remove the key. The key mechanism may be a little off so turning the ignition lock a little (what you out the key in) might help to line things up so you can remove the key.
