    my cordless phone (uniden) has somehow been turned to silent mode, How do you turn off silent mode?

      Without knowing the model of your phone I can't give you a definite answer, but on many  phones you switch out of silent mode by pressing and holding the # button. Or the button that has a picture of a speaker.
