Vista and Windows 7 are two different operating systems. This is not upgrading, it's an operating system replacement. There would be no backing up files, you would have to save them to an external hard drive to add them to the Windows 7 operating system after you load it into your computer. You will have to wipe the computer clean of the Vista operating system first.
SP2 or service pack 2 is an upgrade for Windows XP which is an out dated operating system by today's standards. Vista came out after the XP operating system and before the Windows 7 system.
