How soon will my mouth heal after getting teeth out and dentures in?

Not quite so. Immediate dentures can be fitted as soon as the teeth are removed, but you have to know that owing to gum and bone shrinkage they will never fit tightly. After about 3 months post-extraction most of the shrinkage will have occurred, but it continues for the rest of your life.

My wife had this, and it worked very well. The pain was minimal.

I think I'd rather heal first.

Have you had your teeth removed yet? Your dentist should or will provide you with all the information. You can not get dentures until your gums heal from the extractions. With the dentures, it's not about healing, it's about getting use to them and learning how to eat with them. Speak to your dentist for more information.
