Maybe we need background checks to be sure of the level of sanity before a person is allowed to drive a killing machine. Cars kill more people per year than guns do. Since people are advocating stricter background checks for potential gun owners, then I think the same should apply to people wanting to drive a car that can take out multiple people at the will of the driver.
