Windows 7 doesn't come with a default email client installed (like Outlook). Instead, you're prompted to download the Microsoft client Windows Live Mail (http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail). In fact, the email client that usually comes in Windows systems - Outlook Express - won't even run in Windows 7.
You can use other email clients if you prefer. Most people choose Thunderbird as an alternative: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/
