The obvious solution to this problem is for both parties to abandon their religion.

Because in Islam there can't be seigniory for a non muslim on a muslim generally. You know that the man has the greatest affect on the members of the family and they are affraid that the non-muslim husband makes the members of the family leave Islam, so they try to put the family in the safe side , not to have problems in the future and live happily.

for one thing, her family would kill her if she married a Christian.....and maybe kill him too. And another  thing is.....the bible says you should be " equally yoked "  ( in marriage )   Point # 3  is........One of the best paths to a good marriage is to marry someone that has a similar family background to yours. Marriage is hard enough without the added pressure of being with someone of a different race, culture,or religion.
