    My lower desktop bar has become larger. How do I get it back into the original position

    Where my bottom icons are.  The bar is too wide

      Put your cursor on the very top edge of it. When you have it placed correctly you will see a double ended arrow appear. When you see that, left click and hold then pull the bottom tray down so it's not so big. (I'm assuming by "lower" you mean the bar at the bottom of your screen).
