Good luck. I have a 2 year old beagle who loves to dig. His name is Digger just for that reason. Diggers will dig. I gave the dogs, 1/3 of the backyard. My side, no holes. Their side is their playground. He digs, I fill in the holes. Only takes me a few minutes work so he can be happy doing what he loves to do. Works for us.

I have heard of people putting chicken wire under the ground of the perimeter of the fence. Try some at his favorite spots first, as a test. Also, Boxers love to run, if it is a small yard, and he has no other exercise, take him for long walks, or better a run at the dog park.
