No power, oil cap foaming, blue smoke, oil light comes on & flashes for a while then goes off. Has head gasket gone or is it deeper ?
Loss of power, slight oil cap foaming, slight blue smoke, oil light comes on & flashes for a while then goes off. Has head gasket gone or is it deeper ?

use dip sick if it white and creamy defo one of ur gaskit as gon and if so dont drive it only to garage should only cost £100 is dip stick white? deanthompson6@yahoo.co.uk

Hi Dean, The oil is black. There is no other sign other than foam on inside of tappet cover and oil filler cap. I'm leaning towards the piston rings and a slight water to oil contamination. there is no gassing in the header tank. Is a replacement piston ring set an easy job with the Golf?
