    I don't think its used much anymore


    means ' to give'.  Like a payment.


     


    Sometimes you will see on a legal document 'legal tender'  means that the means of payment is legal.  Where 'tender' is the means of payment, gold, note, cows or whatever..  Anything  can be considered legal tender of bot the giver and receiver agrees.
