Is homosexuality caused by genetics or environment?

Why are some people only a little gay or bi-sexual? Can orientation be changed?

Orientation can never really be changed. A change can be forced and even brainwashed into a person but that person lives as a shell of a human just existing in life but never enjoying life or enjoying real love. People are born to be what they are. There is no such thing as "a little gay". Bi-sexuality is just another sexuality. They can love either sex and be content with either sex. They have the biggest pond to fish from yet even they are selective about who they share their life with.

    I was born this way.
How it was caused who knows? My parents were straight and I have other siblings we were all brought up the same yet I am the only gay child in the family.
From the time when I started having crushes they were never about men only about females. I didn't know what a lesbian was until I was 13 but when it was explained to me I knew that I wasn't strange that people just like me existed.

Some people a little gay? Hahaha bisexual people are attracted to both sexes gay people are attracted to the same sex only..

“bit like pork and cheese. It’s different.” ha ha. Good saying.

I definately think they are born that way. Something to do with hormones. I had a friend{he} who told me that even as a young child he always felt more drawn to males. I dont think its genetic at all.

People can be what they want to be-- Less attention to gay/ lesbian and more attention to people. I am not gay but I have no problems and no questions as to why they are this way, no more than I have a problem with any human being regardless of race.   They were born that way, I was born this way. we are all humans that's all we should be concerned about.

Now when the Aliens land here, they're not humans, then we 'all' got something to talk about. LOL!!!

It caused by the food that they choose to eat. Too much tofu and vegetables. Not enough beef.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, I suppose.

I've never eaten tofu and am very selective about veggies. Don't like most of them. Beef I could eat almost daily but do not because too much beef is not healthy. I'm still a lesbian. You should sell this idea to the world Digger. You might make a fortune with the witch hunters who seek to "heal" the poor lost homos who are only pretending to be homos because God knows they CHOSE to be that way.

Tofu? Vegetables? Beef? Hmmmm... I've heard lots of theories, but that's definitely a creative one.

My youngest brother is gay, tried denial by marriage and having 3 kids.  Didn't work, he got divorced and slowly came out..  He has half of same genes, (different father) but was raised in same house as 4 brothers and 1 sister.  I do not conclude either, it just is.  He is a good person, father, grandfather, productive citizen, and doesn't bother anyone and that is all that matters!

If you google 'homosexuality and sexual orientation' you will se there is no simple answer to this question. There appears to be a genetic influence but hormones, and environment seem to be involved. Aversion therapy has been tried to change sexual orientation but it is a painful procedure both physically and mentally.

Why bother, it does not trouble anyone except religious fundies and who cares about them?

That shock therapy is horrible I had a gay male friend have that, it is funny the actually did a study on 1000 people and they found that 89% had bisexual tendencies because they would get arroused watching those of the same sex. Weird hey lol ..

It's simply another sexuality. There needs to be no reason why. There is no cure because it is not an illness or disease. It is not a choice. It is a life just like all other lives. Homosexuals love and desire all the same things out of life that heterosexuals do. We want a committed partner, marriage, a family, a home with the white picket fence, the family dog or cat, children, and the tax reductions and credits that marriage brings. We want our partner and children to be financially protected should we die, just like the heteros do. No one chooses to make their life more difficult purposely just to go against the grain of what some call "normal". I am normal and I am a lesbian. I live, I love, I laugh, I help whomever I can, when I can. I abide by the laws created to keep a peaceful society and pay my taxes. I am an active member of society and do my best to be a productive member of society and not hinder it. I'm more normal than person who calls me abnormal as they are the types who disrupt society with their judgments, condemnations and persecution of those they feel threatened by. It is abnormal to feel threatened by another Soul just because it lives differently (without harming another person) than the self professed normal one does. I do not believe homosexuality is caused by genetics or environment. I grew up in a family with a heterosexual mother and father. I have 7 siblings. We were all raised the same way. Nothing different happened to me that didn't happen to any of my siblings. I am the only one who is a homosexual. My mother says that she knew when I was just a young girl that I would be different than the other kids. My father figured it out first and when I was around the age of 12, he told my mother I was a lesbian. They chose to not say anything to me about it. They wanted me to come into the realization on my own. I was 14 or 15 years old when I figured it out. It took me until I was 20 years old to come out to them. Before that, I tried the straight life because I was hiding and wasn't comfortable yet with coming out to a society that I knew did not accept homosexuals. This was back in the early 80's. At that time it was still illegal to have same sex relations. People went to prison for it, mainly men. I have always had the support of my parents concerning my sexuality. They too believe it is not something that happens because of a genetic disorder or environment. It is simply another sexuality. No explanation required because we do not need to be fixed as we are not broken.

from the beginning of life to the end of life,,,,,the choices we make are endless,,some are easy some are not,,,

Choices? Lol see I find that a really funny comment, I never made a choice I was born this way.. I have never been attracted to men so I never went there. It was natural...

It's like say some people choice to get cancer, you could almost put homosexuals into this category it's not a choice at all.

I will agree some people marry then later in life decide to chose the gay lifestyle but this does not mean all of us did this, many whom did married were often pressured by there families to marry and now later in their lives they have found the courage to come out..
I have a friend for example she is 26 has 5 kids and has just realised she is gay? See I do not understand that because these days there is no pressure to do so.. Got me stuffed that one..

"I will agree some people marry then later in life decide to chose the gay lifestyle"

I do not believe they "choose" the gay life. I agree that they were gay all along but chose to play straight to hide from the persecution of people who do not like gays. Everyone grows up eventually and at some point these people realize a few hateful words are not worth them living without real love and living a life that is truly not their own. It's a life they create to appease others.

Terry, you are confused by not seeing the truth. The woman admits the sex is great, a bonus as she says. She is and always has been a lesbian. Ask her if sex with her husband was great. I bet she will say no. Sex can only be great if that is the sex you are drawn to naturally. Having kids does not a straight woman make. Two of my ex's were married, had kids, then grew up and chose to live the life they were born to live. They married for their families sake, they came out of the closet for their own sake. Sex with men was a function for them. Something they had to do. Children resulted from that function. Sex with a woman completed their life's needs. The only choice a homosexual makes it to be true to themselves and live as they were born to live or to lie to themselves and live as others demand they live.

Who cares? I mean really what difference does it make??
