      Check the terms of the policy. If you need clarification, contact the insurance company.

        You should get this clarified through both the insurance and rental companies, so that there is no shock in the time to settle.  Have your insurance adjuster check into the fine print of your coverage.  That is what they get paid to do, in addition to the car settlement itself.
