This is a question that could be answered by a Naturopathic Doctor. Vitamins and supplements cannot just be taken without guidance from a trained professional.  You need an expert who understands the combinations and also takes into consideration, other things, such as prescription medications that you may be taking.

How can anyone answer that, without knowing what's in the multivitamin?

Do be careful with taking supplements, as with vitamins, especially, there is such a thing as "hypervitaminosis" (taking too much vitamin in).  This is mostly with the fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K.  These are stored in the body fat, the others are water soluble, B complex, and C.  They are excreted  if taken in an abundance, being safely carried out in the urine.
