Why is it important to you? Births,marriages & deaths are recorded at the registrar generals dept.

A copy of a marriage certificate would be available for a nominal fee.But I would still like to know why this would be so important to you.

Thank you for your reply, I was not asking for myself but for a friend. I do not know why they want to know and did not ask, just said that I would help if I could.

In the states you need to know what state and county the were married or divorced in.  I say if the couple should be left in Peace.  (the only reasons I can think to not ask them directly are bad).  Thell your friend to ask them- and if the answer is 'no' but they act like they are treat them as if they are.

well the very obvious,having a ring on his or her left ring fingerwere commonly married put it.2nd, by civil wedding permit and knowing the surname through asking both his or her parents.
