    where is the egr valve placed on a 92 jeep cherokee 4.0?, will it run without one?

    this is a 92 jeep cherokee laredo 4.0, canadian model, where the egr valve normally goes there is a plate over it . The jeep will start, but then immediately shuts down. there is spark, & fuel, where do i look next?

    Long term use of a vehicle with the erg removed can cause engine damage. At this point, the best place to start is a mechanic to see what kind of damage has been done. No erg valve can affect pistons, rings and gaskets.

    did a code test, the results came back to the ecm. is there any way to re-set the ecm?
