    What does "Net Carbs" mean?

    The front of snack packages say ie. 3 Net Carbs.  However, the nutrition label on the package shows: Total Carbs 19g, Dietary Fiber 9g, Sugars 1g, Protein 5g.  How do they come up with the 3 Net Carbs.
