The distance between two points, the size of a designated unit to be messured basically. Specificaly 99,99% of our universe that what is not matter. The medium in which quantum forces interact. The fabric that is altered by quantum forces and the fabric that alters quantum forces and light. Interesting research on the theory of Dark energy and anti-matter may yeild more information to better answer your question.

I assume you mean outer space?

Well outside the atmosphere it is a near vacuum at almost -273 degrees Centigrade with approximately 4 atoms of hydrogen per litre.  If you mean any other kind of space like space in your loft, you know the answer to that better than I do.

The absence of matter or mass

an area that contains no matter. Like, even your living room is space......the part of it where's there's no furniture or anything.

   However the traditional meaning of space is the area outside of our atmosphere. It's a big void with solar systems here and there. And, flying meteors sometimes.
