Did you remember to remove the tape from the end of the cartridges If you did, then you need to run a test page. Go to menu or tools on the computer. You should also put it through the cleaning process. That can be found in tools too. You did not mention the brand printer so I can't get more detailed with my answer as they are all different in how to care for them.
