      First check to see if your brake lights work because the brake light switch will deactivate cruise control, when you press the brake pedal to slow down or stop.


      If the brake light switch is okay, a mechanic will have to check out the cruise control, since the powertrain control module and the vehicle speed sensor, in your vehicle's computer, control the cruise control also.
